Big Tank Fish Watching

Big Tank Fish Watching

Come observe the giant tank - which recreates the rich marine environment of Izu, home to a wide variety of marine life — right from the water's surface!

Program Contents

The Grand Aquarium at Shimoda Marine Aquarium features a massive tank themed around the waters of Izu, home to 10,000 specimens across 50 species, including fish, invertebrates, and seaweed. In this magical space, where colorful fish swim right before your eyes and seaweed sways gently, you’ll feel as if you’ve wandered into the real ocean.
All you need is a swimsuit and a towel!
After changing into a wetsuit and receiving a brief briefing from our staff, you'll finally head out to the giant tank. Anyone in elementary school or older can participate. Children will wear life jackets, so they can safely enjoy the underwater world even in areas where they can't touch the bottom. It's not just about "watching" — why not experience a special time where you can truly "feel" the Izu Sea?
