- What can I do?
- We offer a variety of programs that take you into the ocean. For details, please see the description of each program.
There is also a programme for those who want to interact with the dolphins without going into the sea. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis on the day. For more information, please visit the Shimoda Floating Aquarium website.
- I can't swim, but can I interact with dolphins?
- A number of programmes are available for non-swimmers.
- I am in second grade and I am a good swimmer. Can I snorkel?
- Due to insurance coverage, there is an age limit for each program. If you do not meet the eligibility requirements, for whatever reason, you will not be allowed to participate.
- Can the chaperone watch from close by?
- All programs have a pier nearby. You can watch and photograph from there.
- Can I go in even if I am menstruating?
- It is possible to enter. If you are concerned about soiling your swimsuit, we recommend that you use a tampon.
- Are there showers and lockers available?
- Use of hot showers, lockers, and changing rooms is included in the program fee.
- Can I apply on the day?
- All programs that take place in the sea must be booked in advance, but can be accepted on the day if space is available.
- Can I cancel?
- You can do this, but please make sure to contact us.
- Cancellation charges apply from 2 days prior to the event: 50% 2 days prior, 80% the day before, 100% on the day of the event.
- I don't have any equipment. Can I borrow it?
- There is an additional rental fee, but those who do not have their own equipment can still participate. You can check the prices on the individual program pages.
- I have my own equipment, will I pay less for the rental?
- You are free to bring your own equipment. However, some equipment may and may not be used. Please check each program page for details.
- Can I participate in several programs?
- You can attend more than one program as long as the program times do not overlap. We are happy to discuss your time settings with you. Please contact us for more information. Please check each program page.
- Are winters cold? Is it possible to enter the water?
- The program runs all year round, so you can go in, but the water temperature is at its lowest and very cold in January and February each year. Dry suits aren't available for hire. You can also inquire about the water temperature. Please feel free to contact us. However, the clarity of the water is much better in the colder months and the sea is very clean.
- I am pregnant. Can I participate?
- Pregnant women aren't allowed to participate. Pregnant women are not allowed to participate in this event. For more information, please check the Shimoda Floating Aquarium website.
- Can only children participate?
- For Dolphin Beach only, children up to 4th grade require a 1:1 chaperone. For all other programs, children may participate only.
- Is there anything I can't touch or play with?
- We don't feed the dolphins in this program. In some cases, you may not be able to touch or play with the dolphins. Please understand.
- How many dolphins can I play with?
- We will not know until the time is right because of the condition of the dolphins.
- I don't have anything, can I still participate?
- You will be able to participate in the program because we have the required swimsuits and towels for rent.
- What if I can't make it on time?
- Due to conflicts with other events, if you can’t make it in time, you will not be able to attend. Please be sure to contact us.
- What should I bring?
- Swimsuits and towels are required. If you have your own equipment, please bring it with you to save on the rental fee. If you forget to bring all of your equipment, we have rental equipment available.
- Is there a swimsuit requirement?
- There is nothing special about it, but if you wear a swimwere that is too big or too fluffy, it will feel stiff in the wetsuit. If you are concerned about this, we recommend a tight-fitting swimsuit.
- Do I have to enter the aquarium?
- Since the facility is located inside the Shimoda Floating Aquarium, you must be admitted to the aquarium.
- Do you have a hair dryer?
- Hair dryers are available. You may also bring your own.
- How long does it take to get to Dolphin Beach after entering the aquarium?
- About 3 minutes.
- Can I bring my own camera?
- You can't bring your own dolphin beach. Other programs can be brought in.
- However, they will be in seawater. We are not responsible for any damage to your camera or loss of data. Please bring your own camera at your own risk.
- Can you take my picture?
- Except for Dolphin Beach, staff will bring cameras. Please note that for safety reasons we may not be able to take pictures or there may not be pictures with everyone in them.
- If you wish to take pictures, we recommend that you bring your own underwater camera. We also ask that you wear a strap around your wrist or neck.
- Do you have shampoo?
- Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are provided. You may also bring your own.
- I have a disability. Can I participate in the program?
- Some programs are not available. Please contact us for details.
- Do I need a wetsuit?
- Dolphins may open their mouths in playful behavior. Their sharp teeth can cause serious injury. Wetsuits must be worn.
- Do adults wear life jackets to participate in Uki Uki Dolphin?
- Adults can float well enough with just the buoyancy of their wetsuits
- Can I swim or dive at the Uki Uki Dolphin?
- The Uki Uki Dolphin uses the buoyancy of the wetsuit to float and interact with the dolphins, so swimming or diving will startle the dolphins. You can put your face on the dolphins and watch them swim.
- Can I feed the dolphins?
- The program to enter the ocean does not use bait, so it is not possible to feed them. If you are in the Dolphin Feeding program, which sells tickets on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the program, you can sign up to feed the animals.
- Can you hold onto a fin?
- This one also does not use bait, so it cannot swim or sign by being caught in its fins.
- Do you accept credit cards?
- Accepted. Cash, PayPay and credit cards are accepted.
- If have a pre-existing medical condition or I am over 60, what doctor's note should I bring?
